Taskris

Case Study
Project Overview
This case study was for a mobile application that lets users track their daily tasks they need to complete. It also includes a calendar they can check and add things to in order to check the weekly things they must complete.

My Contributions
I was the singular designer for creating this project, under the support from feedback given by an experienced designer. A couple of the tasks I worked on that lead to me designing this application were performing secondary research through articles, creating mockups, as well as prototyping the final versions of the wireframe pages.
User Personas
At the beginning of creating this mobile application, it was mostly focused as a calendar and task tracking app. However, it transitioned as mainly a task app with a calendar feature, as this was to make the application simpler for the user to focus specifically on their objectives. How I envisioned this app was making it as easy and efficient as it can be for the user, not having too many advanced and confusing features but still have enough to categorize their tasks as as they personally need.

In the first iteration of designing the mockups which you can see directly below, I presented to a professional designer overseeing the project. Realizing the app was simple, it needed more to distinguish itself from other existing competitors that are already out there on the market. Afterwards, I brainstormed different ways of how to make the app the unique and cater more towards my user base which tends to skew younger. The solution that came up was having achievements and awards be awarded for users doing their tasks, gamifying my application.

Low Fidelity Wireframes
Thus, after several feedback sessions with the overseeing designer, I finalized the working app in its current state. What was added to the application after coming up with idea of gamifying and conducting research for what might work best, I added several new features as well as a new page. Badges were introduced to help give players a sense of reward for completing their tasks, as well as a log-in streak to keep users consistently logged in every day and finishing every objective. A social section was also implemented, as it was needed to invite peers for collaborating for group projects and tasks. It also helped with giving a feeling of competition to go along with the gamification, also allowing users to see their friends level up to congratulate them and incentivizing each other to keep up with completing their assigned daily tasks.
